Biennale College Cinema 2024-25: the 4 final projects selected

The selection has been completed for the four projects, from Italy, Kenya, Nigeria, Cambodia, USA and India, that will move on to the production phase for the feature-length films of the 13^th edition (2024 – 2025) of the Biennale College Cinema. From Wednesday December 4^th the screenwriting workshop begins and will end on December 7^th. From January 11^th to 16^th the the pre-production workshop will take place.

The four teams of the 13^th edition (2024 – 2025) of the Biennale College Cinema, consisting of a director and a producer, are as follows:

• AGNUS DEI (Italy) - director: Massimiliano Camaiti; producer: Giovanna Nicolai, (2^nd feature)
• 1 WOMAN, 1 BRA (Kenya/Nigeria) - director: Vincho Nchogu; producer: Josh Olaoluwa (1^st feature)
• BECOMING HUMAN (Cambodia/USA) - director: Polen Ly; producer: Daniel Mattes (2^nd feature)
• SECRET OF A MOUNTAIN SERPENT (India) - director: Nidhi Saxena; producer: Vimukthi Jayasundara (2^nd feature)

After the conclusion of the pre-production, the actual production of the four micro-budget feature-length films now begins, with a € 200,000 grant each from La Biennale. The four films will be presented at the 82^nd Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia 2025.

Starting tomorrow Tuesday December 3^rd two previous projects from Biennale College – Cinema will be presented at the 16^th edition of Kyoto Historica International Film Festival (December 3^rd to 8^th) at the Museum of Kyoto and at the Toei and Shochiku Studios, historic film companies. Participation is organized by La Biennale di Venezia in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Osaka.

The scheduled films are:

December 7^th: My Birthday (Il Mio Compleanno) directed by Christian Filippi, produced by Leonardo Baraldi (Schicchera Production), from 12^nd Biennale College Cinema, presented at the 81^st Venice Film Festival
A Q&A at the presence of the director will follow, who will also present the film and his experience with the Biennale College Cinema to the participants of the Kyoto Filmmakers’ Lab in the afternoon.

December 7^th and 8^th: Vajont directed by Iolanda Di Bonaventura, produced by Saverio Trapasso (Artheria), from 4^th Biennale College Cinema Immersive, presented at the 77^th Venice Film Festival.
The director will host an online masterclass on December 8^th

On December 7^th the online masterclass “Biennale College Cinema” will be held.
