Two projects from Biennale College Cinema will be presented at the Kyoto Historica International Film Festival (3-8 December).

The selection has been completed for the four projects, from Italy, Kenya, Nigeria, Cambodia, USA and India, that will move on to the production phase for the feature-length films of the 13th edition (2024 – 2025) of the Biennale College Cinema. From Wednesday December 4th the screenwriting workshop begins and will end on December 7th. From January 11th to 16th the the pre-production workshop will take place.
The four teams of the 13th edition (2024 – 2025) of the Biennale College Cinema, consisting of a director and a producer, are as follows:
- AGNUS DEI (Italy) - director: Massimiliano Camaiti; producer: Giovanna Nicolai, (2nd feature)
- 1 WOMAN, 1 BRA (Kenya/Nigeria) - director: Vincho Nchogu; producer: Josh Olaoluwa (1st feature)
- BECOMING HUMAN (Cambodia/USA) - director: Polen Ly; producer: Daniel Mattes (2nd feature)
- SECRET OF A MOUNTAIN SERPENT (India) - director: Nidhi Saxena; producer: Vimukthi Jayasundara (2nd feature)
After the conclusion of the pre-production, the actual production of the four micro-budget feature-length films now begins, with a € 200,000 grant each from La Biennale. The four films will be presented at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia 2025.
Biennale College Cinema at the Kyoto Historica International Film Festival
Starting tomorrow Tuesday December 3rd two previous projects from Biennale College – Cinema will be presented at the 16th edition of Kyoto Historica International Film Festival (December 3rd to 8th) at the Museum of Kyoto and at the Toei and Shochiku Studios, historic film companies. Participation is organized by La Biennale di Venezia in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Osaka.
The scheduled films are:
December 7th: My Birthday (Il Mio Compleanno) directed by Christian Filippi, produced by Leonardo Baraldi (Schicchera Production), from 12nd Biennale College Cinema, presented at the 81st Venice Film Festival
A Q&A at the presence of the director will follow, who will also present the film and his experience with the Biennale College Cinema to the participants of the Kyoto Filmmakers’ Lab in the afternoon.
December 7th and 8th: Vajont directed by Iolanda Di Bonaventura, produced by Saverio Trapasso (Artheria), from 4th Biennale College Cinema Immersive, presented at the 77th Venice Film Festival.
The director will host an online masterclass on December 8th
On December 7th the online masterclass “Biennale College Cinema” will be held.
