Living in Place, Enabling the Coming-Together: An experience to Engage with Space, Participate in Shaping a Culture and Create Communities
Album
Description
Living in Place is a spatial framework that invites visitors to enter, participate, and engage with the physical structures. Whether to see the installation, walk through the space, interact with each other, or see the other installations — the variety of individual motivations, the interpersonal exchange, the communal interactions bring out the essence of what community embodies in place. The installation consists of four components:
The Stairs: The element that leads visitors to enter and acts as the demarcation of the “transient” zone. The Door: The interface between the transient zone and the inner void.
The Void: The inner space which becomes a “place” when people are present.
The Media: Includes film, models, and stools that communicate ideas.
Creating a void that invites people and activities to flow in, thereby occupying and shaping it, is central to the design. Film and documentary help to communicate what Huang sees and senses from the environment he operates in; the evolving live models that are continuously being reshaped convey his design ideas; and stools represent the autonomy of users and also document how visitors form communities as they are rearranged and occupied.

Image 1 – How will we live together?
To build is about exploring the meaning of life.
It enables people to live together and to find a sense of belonging.
Image 2 – Sneak peek of the project
The narrower the road, the easier for people to meet.
The softer the lights, the easier for birds to sleep.
