Description
The Hotspot Cities Project concerns urban design strategies to restrict sprawl in the largest and fastest growing cities in the world’s most biodiverse regions. Each city is represented by a map showing, in red, where its forecast 2050 growth is occurring in direct conflict with endangered species and remnant habitat.
The World Park is a proposal for the creation of three walking trails and three tracts of ecologically restored land from Alaska to Patagonia, from Australia to Morocco, and from Namibia to Turkey. This will enable biodiversity to migrate so as to adjust to climate change, and also provide meaningful work and recreational opportunities for people.
Not the Blue Marble is a view through a replica of the 1969 Apollo 11 hatch to a simulation of an Earth with only its current protected areas left. Instead of the door of the “Eagle” through which the Astronauts stepped onto the Moon, the Apollo (control module) hatch is that through which the astronauts passed on their return to Earth.
