Storytelling Tours
Venue: Giardini
A walking tour of installations and pavilions
We recommend bringing a notebook and pen.
Starting with the suggestions of the Exhibition, our young visitors will experience new situations and stimuli, in which they play at representing themselves in roles different than usual, as they are led through scenarios that bring them into contact with other worlds. The task they are assigned is to create a story inspired by unique characters, with unexpected characteristics, thereby bringing a new story to life.
The class, divided into four groups, acquires the various elements of their story as they go, thanks to the sections of a magic calendar. Once all the elements of the story have been randomly assigned, each group proceeds to write their own adventure based on the characters and the mission presented to them.
Art and Technology –

Venue: Arsenale, activity with workshop
As the curator Adriano Pedrosa stated: “The Biennale Arte 2024’s primary focus is thus artists who are themselves foreigners, immigrants, expatriates, diasporic, émigrés, exiled, or refugees—particularly those who have moved between the Global South and the Global North. Migration and decolonization are key themes here”.
Starting with these themes, during the visit to Foreigners Everywhere - Stranieri Ovunque the experience of migration is described through the works presented at the Arsenale, lingering in particular on the section Italiani Ovunque-Italians everywhere, dedicated to the Italian artistic diaspora around the world in the 20th century.
The theme will be developed during the workshop, which will explore the changes that have come about in the population of our country, especially in terms of emigration, from 1861 to the present day, seeking to problematise and understand the evolution of these phenomena over time. Using digital materials and dedicated software, participants will finally compose dynamic graphics, maps and posters to represent the various migratory flows between the many continents and countries.
The workshop is organized in collaboration with Istat – National Institute of Statistics.
Art and Mathematics / from 15 – 25 October
The Foreign Triangle
Venue: Arsenale, activity with workshop
The laboratory embraces the general themes of the 60th International Art Exhibition Foreigners Everywhere - Stranieri Ovunque. The activity seeks to have the kids reflect upon the concept of “foreigner”. Such a complex and relevant issue can be investigated not only through artistic language, but also through the language of mathematics. The workshop will in fact address the theme of classification, fundamental to the sciences in general and to mathematics in particular. Starting with simple classifications that involve colourful triangles, the discussion will focus on how mathematics can help to discover similarities and analogies between “foreign” figures which at first glance might appear very different. Through a hands-on activity and group game, the kids can experiment and think through these themes.
A workshop organized in collaboration with Paola Morando and Maria Luisa Spreafico, Università degli Studi di Milano.
