Synopsis
Summer 1996, north-east coast of Brazil. Tamara is enjoying her last weeks at the fishing village she lives in before departing to Brasilia for her studies. One day, she hears about a teenager nicknamed Heartless after a scar she has on her chest. Over the course of the summer, Tamara feels a growing attraction for this mysterious girl.
Directors' Statement
Tamara’s journey is inspired by Nara’s experiences growing up in Guaxuma, a beach in Alagoas, one of the poorest states of Brazil. After the shooting of our short film there, we had a strong feeling that we could go deeper in this universe, a place where the violence contrasts with its beauty. We’ve developed along the years a beautiful relationship with Eduarda Samara, who plays the role of Heartless, and now collaborated in the feature’s script. Sem Coração is a film with fantastic elements and a strong documental background, which we believe depicts aspects rooted in Brazilian society and at the same time invites the viewer to dive in an experience of love, mystery, violence, and beauty.
