Tania Cortés Becerra - 1195
Description
1195 by Tania Cortés Becerra is an audiovisual installation that deals with the concepts of perspective and memory. These concepts are analyzed within the context of an iconic site in Venice, the Basilica di San Marco. The church itself is a synonym of time since it collects and showcases the passing of history through the diverse artistic styles in its structure. Hence, the spaces inside and around the Basilica are repositories of memory, and the contrast between these two perspectives is daily proof of the coexistence of ancient Venice and today’s Venice.
These elements, and the contrast between them, are the basis upon which 1195 was conceived.
