5 Italian films from the Biennale Cinema 2023 at Venice in Jakarta

From 24 to 28 April at the headquarter of the IIC and at the Cinema CGV (Jakarta); from 26 to 28 April in Bandung, at the Institut Français Indonésie.

Starting today Wednesday 24 April (and through April 28) the first edition of Venice in Jakarta, which this year in Indonesia presents for the first time a qualified selection of Italian films from the Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia. Five Italian films, both new and restored “classics” from the recent 80th Venice International Film Festival 2023, which will be screened from 24 to 28 April at the headquarter of the IIC and at the Cinema CGV in Jakarta, but also from 26 to 28 April in Bandung, at the Institut Français Indonésie.

Participating in Venice in Jakarta 2024, from the Venezia 80 Competition, will be the opening film Comandante by Edoardo De Angelis, Enea by Pietro Castellitto and Adagio by Stefano Sollima. From the Out of Competition section, the screenings will feature L’ordine del tempo (The Order of Time) by Liliana CavaniGolden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2023. Last but not least, for Venice ClassicsBellissima (Beautiful, 1951) by Luchino Visconti, one of the masterpieces by an author who plays a fundamental role in the history of Italian and world cinema.

The project to promote and spread Italian cinema in the world, was launched in 2005 by La Biennale di Venezia in Brazil, with subsequent series organized in Russia starting in 2006, in China starting in 2009, in Korea starting in 2012, where the twelfth edition of Venice in Seoul recently ended, and in Croatia, Lebanon and Singapore starting in 2014 and in the UK.  A new series will be organized for the first time in Morocco, from May to December 2024, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat.

 

The 81st Venice International Film Festival will be held from 28 August to 7 September 2024 directed by Alberto Barbera
