Starting from Wednesday, July 15th, La Biennale di Venezia is to offer residents and visitors of the city of Venice and its surroundings (arts and culture lovers, families, students and scholars) a wide range of Educational Activities, free guided tours (advance booking required), the exhibition La Biennale at the Arsenale 1998/2020, as well as other initiatives to be held in the exhibition venues of the Giardini and the Arsenale.

Summer at La Biennale di Venezia
The Biennale Educational activities and free guided tours (advance booking required) starting from July 15th at the Giardini and the Arsenale. La Biennale at the Arsenale 1998/2020 exhibition is also open.
Guided tours
The tours will focus on the historical and architectural legacy of La Biennale exhibition venues, taking visitors through a brand new journey across the celebrated places that hosted memorable International Exhibitions and linking them with their urban context. The guided tours will be held in Italian and English (as well as Spanish, French and German upon request, subject to availability).
Giardini
The guided outdoor tours will walk visitors around the Giardini della Biennale, including their landscaped historical areas and the permanent Pavilions designed by internationally acclaimed architects, now regarded as masterpieces of twentieth-century architecture. The tours will also give visitors a chance to discover the fascinating history of this site through specific activities focusing on different historical eras. These four events will explore the architectural, cultural and political background of this unique place, from the Belle Époque and the 1920s to the area’s expansion in the 1930s, its rebuilding and the years of globalisation.
Arsenale
The guided tours of the Arsenale will travel back in time from the site’s current reuse as an exhibition venue and recent renovation to its readaptation in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, all the way to its almost mythical foundation in the Middle Ages.
La Biennale at the Arsenale 1998/2020. Renovation and redevelopment
The guided tour of the Arsenale will include an exhibition (July 15 > October 25) centred on the historical site’s renovation by La Biennale di Venezia: the exhibition can be accessed by booking the tour in advance. Large photographic prints will show the south-eastern areas of the Arsenale granted by concession to La Biennale before, during and after their renovation and redevelopment. In fact, La Biennale has been committed since 1998 to the revitalization of the site so as to make the buildings once again accessible to the public by hosting:
• exhibitions (the large International Art and Architecture Exhibitions)
• theatre, music and dance performances (an artistic sector introduced by the reformation of the statute of the Foundation in 1998)
• art workshops and internships (Biennale College)
• logistics and public facilities
Families and children
Families and children will be offered specifically designed tours marked by different colours, each one corresponding to a theme. A number of outdoor walks will take them down the Green Trail, giving them a chance to reconnect with nature and the landscape of the Napoleonic Giardini, the Blue Trail delving into the history of Venice and of the buildings, grounds and waters of the Arsenale, the Yellow Trail focusing on the interplay of architecture, body and movement, and the Red Trail creating unique sound experiences. Family activities will be held in Italian.
Mestre
A specific programme to be held at the Parco della Bissuola in Mestre will familiarise younger audiences with Biennale Architettura 2021 through a photo Contest titled Geometries in the Park, Shapes and Colours.
