The universe speaks to us in the language of architecture. In Amplifying Nature, the unthinkable trajectory of the Earth’s transformation finds its dialogist in the architectural courage of conceptualising vast areas and questioning the very exteriority of nature. CENTRALA embarks on a reconstruction of the planetary imagination inherent in post-war Polish projects that were cognisant of the co-dependence of social routines and workings of the Earth. Its central tenet is that processes that form the very essence of architecture – gravity, light cycle, water circulation – are the ones involved in the planet’s reproduction. The exhibition can be approached on three levels. It presents research on selected 1954–1976 works by alumni of the Art and Research Unit at the Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts. It premieres the new sculptural interpretation of these taken-for-granted processes undergirding both planet and architecture. It also proposes the concept of ‘amplifying nature’ capturing this dynamic at various scales.
