Meitar Ensemble

The Meitar Ensemble from Israel, which has commissioned and performed over 200 new works since its foundation 15 years ago, offers a programme of pieces that will be performed in Italy for the first time: Philippe Leroux, Noriko Baba, Amos Elkana, and Philippe Hurel, alongside a work by Mauro Lanza.

In Postlude à l’épais Philippe Leroux explores the notion of musical thickness in a temporal unfolding, the impression that gives a specific instant greater or lesser thickness, while in No Canonic Variations Noriko Baba draws inspiration from Bach’s chorale Vom Himmel Hoch, transforming it by constantly changing the colour and atmosphere.
The Skin of the Onion displays the interaction between the intuitive reality of sound and the process of formalization that from the definition of models to unpredictability defines Mauro Lanza’s music.
Tripp is located in South Dakota: the numbers in the zip code of the city that is the title of Amos Elkana’s piece are the foundation for a construction based on fractal geometry, in which the whole corresponds to the individual parts.
In “...à mesure” by Philippe Hurel, the rhythm takes on a double resonance: short pulsations that speed up and slow down mesh with rhythmic polyphonies that crystallize in a loop.
