Thoughts Form Matter is to be seen in the context of the increased attention being paid to intermediate and free spaces. In their contributions Henke Schreieck, LAAC and Sagmeister & Walsh interpret FREESPACE as both a spatial and a spiritual construct, as a complex dynamic system and as a versatile realm which is shaped by coexistence. Three spatial installations, which partly merge into each other, materialise and visualise concepts such as ‘deviation’, ‘atmosphere’ and ‘beauty’. Thoughts Form Matter is a plea for the power of architecture as intellectual investigation and for the freedom to create spaces which are uninhibited by functional and economic constraints.
