How will we live together, Chileans and Mapuche? Building places to get to know each other (Künü) Building places to parley (Koyaü-we)
Album
Description
Mapuche comes from Mapu (Earth) and Che (People). Mapuche and Chileans have been in conflict since the formation of the Republic, and at its core there has always been the question of the land. In recent times, the conflict’s violence has escalated. So, how will the Mapuche people and Chileans live together? This project explores an alternative path to violence. Sitting at this table are some of the incumbents: a Mapuche territorial organization and a Chilean forestry company. Both live in the same territory; both intend to remain there, and both understand that confrontation has not solved the problem. A possible rapprochement process is at least two-fold: a condition reflected in this installation organized as Künü (places to know each other) and Koyaü-we (places to parlay).
