What lessons could be learnt from architectural Modernism, the legacy of an often-disputed era, confronted today by changing expectations of sustainability, social norms, and (as far as Central and Eastern Europe specifically are concerned) political transformation?
We invited twelve emerging practices from Central and Eastern Europe to recondition twelve socialist modernist buildings in Budapest. Leaving conventional solutions behind, these twelve proposals reflect on architectural values, heritage, and contemporary problems in unique ways, offering a new, collaborative method that can lead to the emergence of a more experimental architectural behaviour
