I have forgotten the night

Description
I have forgotten the night. In 2019, devising the first Madagascar Pavilion for the Venice Biennale, Joël Andrianomearisoa creates a dream world that invites exploration; a night of torn papers of love and death... in the night-time worlds of Antananarivo, Madrid, the Bosphorus, Paris and Cotonou. Joël Andrianomearisoa infuses the modernity of the square with a boundless nostalgia, breathing the sentimentality of material things. This is a tribute to the majesty of beyond black and its mournful wanderings – folding, unfolding, revealing outlines, singing and laughing as melancholy comes. “The geometry of the angle is a point of no return that embraces the present”, the artist remarks.
