Description
The Past, The Present and The In Between. The pavilion aims to show, from a contemporary perspective, the troubled past of this nation and its influences on today’s society. Using a range of media, Gonçalo Mabunda, Mauro Pinto, and Filipe Branquinho bring to this exhibition a dialogical conversation on violence, corruption, and social injustice. Having grown up during the post-colonial period when their country was engulfed in a long civil war, the artists investigate contemporary politics and popular culture, underpinned by a poetic and at times humorous accent. Attentive to what happens around them, as well as to the deeper dimensions of the human experience, their work speaks to our most empathic feelings.
