SYNOPSIS
During World War 2, the last few moments in the life of a group of soldiers in the depths of the Mediterranean Sea are spent together with their last thoughts. While sinking inexorably in that cruel and bewitching sea, love echoes through the letters a soldier writes to his wife. We can still hear the crying rising from the sea today. “There is always a red sea, a living or dead sea, which faces the wanderer looking for home.”
Stefano D’Arrigo, Horcynus Orca.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
What is the last thought of a dying man? The image of a boat crossing the Strait of Messina during the war, ploughing a sea full of corpses, suggested by Horcynus Orca by D’Arrigo, seems to be giving a possible answer. With this film we have entered those waters to remember the horrors the sea hides.
