81st Venice Film Festival

The 81st Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia and was held on the Lido di Venezia from 28 August to 7 September 2024. The Festival is officially recognised by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).

The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. One section is devoted to enhance the restoration works on classic films as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema, in particular to the advantage of young audiences.

Line-up

The line-up includes the following sections: Venezia 81, Out of Competition, Orizzonti, Orizzonti Extra, Biennale College Cinema, and Venice Classics.

The autonomous and parallel sections, whose line-up is selected in accordance with their own regulations, include the Settimana Internazionale della Critica and the Giornate degli Autori.

Juries and Awards

There are 5 Juries at the 81st Venice International Film Festival:
Venezia 81, Orizzonti, Premio Venezia Opera Prima “Luigi De Laurentiis”, Venice Immersive, and Venice Classics.

The official awards were presented on Saturday 7th September 2024 during the Awards Ceremony.
