Biennale College Dancer-Choreographers - New Works in Progress

Our international call-out for choreographers generated 76 applications. Six talented emerging choreographers were selected to take part in this intense threemonth Biennale College programme. Choreographers have been tasked and mentored to respond to an “inspirational element” of the Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) and use that as a stimulus to create a new draft work for a small dance ensemble. Additionally, by evolving our collaborative partnership with the Biennale Architettura 2021, the six creatives have created special interventions inside the Biennale Architettura itself. Inspired by the concepts and provocations presented in selected architectural spaces, the choreographers have developed their ideas in intimate dialogue with their chosen site. Each solo can be caught during the making process itself or viewed in an informally crafted, guided dance + architecture tour.
