The first out of four Lezioni di musica with the musicologist and pianist Giovanni Bietti presents one of the early masterpieces of electronic music, Gesang der Jünglinge (1955-56) by Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007), and a more recent work, Mortuos plango, vivos voco (1980) by Jonathan Harvey (1939-2012). Both these pieces use pre-recorded samples of a boy’s voice along with the electronic sounds produced in the studio.
