Marcus Schmickler - Glockenbuch IV (Spectre Maria dei Carmini)
Description
The project of Glockenbuch IV creates an immersive experience of deep-listening and an acoustic map of Venice. As if listening from inside crystalline bronze materials of single church bells of San Giorgio Maggiore and Santa Maria dei Carmini to the bell-choruses far away in the city and beyond. A composition of real and imaginary bell-towers bridged across in less than one second. The new work will present the sounds of specific bells recorded, analysed and resynthesized, creating a perspective of intimate and detailed listening nearby and at distance. Light is also part of the performance, creating a capturing emotive and conceptual connection between the technology and modern composition.
