The nominations were announced today for the 80th Golden Globe Awards 2022, the awards organized since 1942 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) of Los Angeles, which gathers the journalists covering the entertainment industry in Hollywood in representation of the media from 56 countries around the world.

The list of nominations includes eight films from the Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia (The Banshees of Inisherin; Tár; Argentina, 1985; Blonde; Inu-oh, The Son; The Whale; White Noise) with a total of 17 nominations.
The largest number of nominations of all – eight – were scored by The Banshees of Inisherin by Martin McDonagh: best picture in the musical/comedy genre, best director, best screenplay (Martin McDonagh), best performance by an actor in a musical/comedy film (Colin Farrell), best supporting actress (Kerry Condon), best supporting actor (Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan), best soundtrack. In Competition in Venezia 79, The Banshees of Inisherin earned Colin Farrell the Coppa Volpi on the Lido, and won the award for best screenplay for Martin McDonagh.
Tár by Todd Field won three nominations: best motion picture drama, best performance by an actress in a motion picture, drama (Cate Blanchett), best screenplay (Todd Field). In Competition in Venezia 79, Tár earned Cate Blanchett the Coppa Volpi for best actress.
Six other films presented at the 79th or 78th Venice International Film Festival earned one nomination each:
