Sveva Alviti to host the opening and closing nights of Venezia 81

Actress Sveva Alviti will host the opening and closing nights of the 81^st Venice International Film Festival within La Biennale di Venezia, directed by Alberto Barbera.

Sveva Alviti will open the 81^st Venice International Film Festival on the evening of Wednesday 28 August 2024, on the stage of the Sala Grande (Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido) for the inauguration ceremony, and will host the closing ceremony on Saturday 7 September, when the winners of the Lions and other official prizes of the 81^st Venice International Film Festival will be announced.

Born in Rome, Sveva Alviti began at early age to study acting with some of the best American teachers, including the famous coach Susan Batson, parallel to her career as a top model that took her to New York.
She made her debut on Broadway in 2009 as the star of the play The Interrogation and in 2011 participated in the 68th Venice International Film Festival in the short film Alice by Roberto de Paolis. In 2012 she was in the film Nothing Can Stop Us Now (Niente può fermarci) by Luigi Cecinelli and in Out of the Blue (Buongiorno Papà) by Edoardo Leo. The following year she was one of the stars of the film Cam Girl directed by Mirca Viola, and brought a play to the Teatro Quirino in Rome dedicated entirely to the actress Monica Vitti, inspired by the film The Pizza Triangle (Dramma della gelosia).
Her consecration came in 2017 with Dalida, the biopic by Liza Azuelos about the famous French icon, which won her a nomination for Best Emerging Actress at the 2018 César awards. It was a hit in France (number one at the box office for weeks) and in Italy, where it was broadcast as a special event for its world television premiere on RAI 1. In 2018 Sveva Alviti was the female lead in the film The Bouncer (Lukas) released in over 250 theatres in France, Belgium and the UK, a thriller starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. That same year she starred in the new release Love Addict with Michael Madsen, playing the role of the femme fatale, Henriette. In 2019 she acted in Beignets de Songe by Fabienne Redt, shot in France, and won the Kinéo Prize as Guest Star in Venice. Three years later she won the Best Actress Award at the Rome Independent Film Festival for her role as co-protagonist in the auteur film Tra le onde, directed by Marco Amenta.
In 2023, she starred in Entre les Vagues by Anaïs Volpé, a film presented at the Cannes Film Festival in the Quinzaine des Cinéastes and winner of many awards across France.
That same year she appeared on French television in the series H24 which focused on violence against women, and made her debut as a director in the short film Les jours d’après. 
In March 2023, her first film for Netflix, AKA, was released. The film, in which she played the female lead Natalya, was a big hit on the platform.
The second season of Nudes, produced by Rai Fiction, will be broadcast from September 15th, and in autumn 2024 she will take part in an American project that will talk about the topic of MeToo entitled The other side of Fame.
The actress is preparing to start filming Walking Through the Fire, her directorial debut for a documentary.
