The nominations were announced today for the 2023 Oscars, and from the list of nominations eight films were presented at the 79th Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia (The Banshees of Inisherin, TÁR, The Whale, Living, the Golden Lion winning film All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, Argentina 1985, Bardo-False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths, Blonde) receiving a total of 24 nominations.
Nine nominations were received by The Banshees of Inisherin by Martin McDonagh: best picture, best directing, best original screenplay (Martin McDonagh), best actor in a leading role (Colin Farrell), best actress in a supporting role (Kerry Condon), best actor in a supporting role (Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan), best music original score, best film editing. In competition in Venice 79, The Banshees of Inisherin was acknowledged with the awards to Colin Farrell, Coppa Volpi for best actor, and Martin McDonagh for best original screenplay.
TÁR by Todd Field won six nominations: best picture, best directing, best actress in a leading role (Cate Blanchett), best original screenplay (Todd Field), best cinematography, best film editing. In competition in Venice 79, TÁR was acknowledged with the award to Cate Blanchett, Coppa Volpi for best actress.
