Fabrizio Arcuri / Carolina Balucani - Sleeping Beauty
Description
Four figures dressed in pink are confined to an enclosure. They’re marginal creatures, living on the edge; wounded, silenced. They choose to sleep instead of entering adult life. Like Sleeping Beauty, they touched something they were not supposed to touch and pricked their finger. As they dream, their wounds resurface.
The show opens on a dancefloor and the audience is invited to join the party. Then the party ends and night falls, giving way to nightmares and revelatory dreams. At dawn, a flock of swans signals the start of a new day. Video projections and screens serve to create the different environments, while experiencing the actors’ performances in close quarters will bring an intimacy to these small nocturnal confessions, which are as much a source of suffering as they are of liberation.
