«This is the great modern love story. To say it’s an honour to award this tender film is an understatement», said the Jury of the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival, composed by Ava Cahen, Wanuri Kahiu and Daniel Kaluuya, on Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears). Said to be a poignant tale of love and loss, the film stars Bhushaan Manoj and Suraaj Suman. Set in a Maharashtrian village, the film follows the story of Anand, a city-bred 30-something man who returns to his ancestral village to mourn the loss of his father. There, a romance develops between Anand and his school friend.
