Description

After the House consists of four main models showing housing projects designed as a reinterpretation of vecindades, urban multifamily tenements with mix-used housing arranged around courtyards with shared services. These were a main typology in Mexico for the last three centuries and essentially forgotten after the 1950s. This project redefines the historical vecindades typology in order to portray flexible design and a shared sense of belonging. It is a project that seeks more diverse ways of living, by acknowledging the fact that citizens share space, air, water, and cities.

After the House depicts a possible future for cities that do not promote the oppositions between living and working, rural and urban, private and public, and owners and dispossessed.
