Description
It seems that animal wildness has earned its place in today’s built environment. Animals may be perceived as collaborators for humans, no longer exotic, but sharing territories instead. As part of the Fondation de France New Patrons Program, the architectural project of an ethological site located within the town of Grancey-Le-Château in Burgundy, France is a space for researching, producing, and experimenting new ways of being and living inside a complex environment where humans, animals, and vegetation live together. Animal life is at the core of this architectural process. Specifically, how can a human-animal relationship be created that would escape the principles of consumption and segmentation that have long governed most interspecies relations? Le Consortium –Land has invited Patrick Berger, Aristide Antonas, and Junya Ishigami to submit architectural proposals based on relationships between humans and animals, viewed from different perspectives. They are projects in search of a symbiosis between humans and animals.
