Synopsis
Seven young adults arrive at a rundown conference facility to participate in an unconventional new group workshop. The subject: learning how to stand up to their parents. Run by a domineering amateur psychologist named Jo Pressburger, the participants undergo a series of increasingly bizarre exercises, designed to empower them in challenging the authority figures around them. But when Jo pushes her teaching a step too far, the group are forced to put their new-found liberation to the test.
Director's statement
This is an attempt to capture what my years in psychotherapy felt like. I was finally tapping into the rage I felt toward my parents, figuring out who I wanted to be... but then feeling hysterical, childish and silly as I tried to express it. We like to think of self-actualisation as empowering. Workshop is about how messy it can prove to be.
