Venue: Arsenale, activity with workshop
As the curator Adriano Pedrosa stated: “The Biennale Arte 2024’s primary focus is thus artists who are themselves foreigners, immigrants, expatriates, diasporic, émigrés, exiled, or refugees—particularly those who have moved between the Global South and the Global North. Migration and decolonization are key themes here”.
Starting with these themes, during the visit to Foreigners Everywhere - Stranieri Ovunque the experience of migration is described through the works presented at the Arsenale, lingering in particular on the section Italiani Ovunque-Italians everywhere, dedicated to the Italian artistic diaspora around the world in the 20th century.
The theme will be developed during the workshop, which will explore the changes that have come about in the population of our country, especially in terms of emigration, from 1861 to the present day, seeking to problematise and understand the evolution of these phenomena over time. Using digital materials and dedicated software, participants will finally compose dynamic graphics, maps and posters to represent the various migratory flows between the many continents and countries.
The workshop is organized in collaboration with Istat –Istituto Nazionale di Statistica.
