Description
Stanislav Kolíbal. Former Uncertain Indicated. Since the beginning of the 1960s, Stanislav Kolíbal has been developing a highly individual creative style, engaged in the critical reconsideration of Minimalism and Conceptual art. His works blur the borderlines between painting, drawing, sculpture, and architecture.
The poetic and ambiguous title of the exhibition is derived from an installation from the 1970s, of crucial importance to an understanding of the artist’s position regarding time, life, and art. The exhibition combines an outside ‘spatial drawing’ and an inside ‘wall drawing’ with two pioneering bodies of work: a group of white sculptures from the 1960s and four wall-installations from the 1970s.
Kolíbal’s art focuses on the precarious interrelationship between perfection/insufficiency, stability/instability, unambiguity/ambiguity, certainty/uncertainty. To the artist’s mind, these categories are the very essence of being.
